What is 'Owner Financing'?
This alternative method of financing is where the homeowner on title, agrees to keep the house in their name while allowing a buyer to come in and occupy the property. This person(s) will pay rent, insurance and maintenance costs on the property for a pre-determined amount of time.  At the end of that time period, the buyer will be able to purchase the house. 
The major advantage of this method for the homeowner is that the homeowner is not a landlord.  The buyer is obligated to take care of the home, just as if it were truly theirs.  Also, their 'debt' is being taken care of by the buyer, and in most cases, is actually making a extra money on top of the actual mortgage payment. 

The major advantage of this method for the buyer is this is a way to get into a house that they normally wouldn't be able to get in to because conventional methods are turning them down because of credit issues.
